The Sienitie housing association had a clear goal to find a smart and practical system that would improve energy efficiency, increase living comfort, and deliver concrete cost savings.

Kalle Lahtinen, the chairman of the housing association, wasn’t new to HögforsGST’s technology. He is also the chairman of another housing association where HögforsGST’s systems have been in use for some time. His positive experiences with the reliability and functionality of the solutions made it an easy decision to start this collaboration with HögforsGST.

– We bought HögforsGST’s HybridHEAT system, which recovers heat from the exhaust air and transfers it to the heat distribution center. From there, the rest of the heating is provided by district heating, Lahtinen explains.

The solution harnesses waste heat and brings it back for use in the building, while maintaining reliable district heating as part of the system. This way, energy efficiency and system control are combined without compromises.

Remote Monitoring Brings Security and Transparency

Remote monitoring allows you to react quickly and proactively to potential problems. All the relevant stakeholders stay up to date without needing to be on-site.

– The system includes the Fiksu Control System for remote monitoring and alarming. The maintenance team, housing association representatives, and HögforsGST can all see in real time how the system is functioning, Lahtinen says.

The service package as a whole is praised.

– We now have a highly reliable heating system: HybridHEAT ensures sufficient heat, remote monitoring keeps the system in check, and warranty service handles any issues if they occur, Lahtinen adds with satisfaction.

Cool Comfort in Summer, Real Savings in Winter

The main benefit of HybridHEAT for residents has been the summer cooling function, as the house heats up in the summer at the same rate as the air.

– We now have a summer cooling system in place. When the building starts to heat up, we can lower the indoor temperature by a degree or two, Lahtinen notes.

Tangible savings have come from a clear reduction in district heating use.

– We’ve achieved up to 45% savings in district heating purchases. In overall economic terms, this has been a very sound investment, Lahtinen continues.

The smart heating system also provides an opportunity to contribute to the development of the energy network: when power peaks can be cut, the whole district heating system works more efficiently and in a more environmentally friendly way.

Cooperation That Works

According to Lahtinen, the project has progressed in a constructive spirit and the service experience has been in a class of its own.

– Working with HögforsGST has been smooth and professional. Compared to other solutions I’ve encountered in other housing associations that I’m a part of, this has been by far the most customer-oriented experience.

One thing that particularly impressed Lahtinen is the HybridHEAT system as a whole.

– I have not come across a similar solution before that combines improved living comfort, operational functionality and economic efficiency so seamlessly, he concludes.
