Burlövsbostäder improves energy efficiency with HögforsGST’s hybrid heating system
When Burlövsbostäder wanted to modernize an old heating plant and take a step toward a more sustainable property portfolio, they chose HögforsGST’s comprehensive hybrid heating solution. The system combines district heating with heat pump technology and smart controls, a future-proof investment that delivers both lower energy consumption and reduced climate impact.
Michael Herrström, operations technician at Burlövsbostäder, has a clear mission: to make the municipality’s properties more energy-efficient.
“A big part of my job is looking at how we can save energy,” Michael explains.

In the property in question, the heating equipment and fans were severely outdated, affecting both operational reliability and energy efficiency. With HögforsGST’s hybrid heating, a complete concept, the upgrade was simple and effective.
“We chose Högfors because they offered a complete solution. Everything was ready; we didn’t have to chase components from different suppliers,” says Michael.

The installation posed some practical challenges, such as fitting new components into tight spaces. Through creative solutions, like reusing old garbage chute shafts to run new pipes from the top floor down to the basement, the team got the job done.
“It was a bit tricky at first, but it worked out. Once we got the equipment in place, everything went smoothly,” Michael recalls.
Collaboration with HögforsGST has been a key factor in the project’s success.
“They’ve been quick to respond when we had questions and came out immediately when needed. That’s reassuring,” he says.

The hybrid heating system is part of Burlövsbostäder’s effort to reduce energy use and future-proof its properties. By replacing old systems with smarter technology, they can both cut costs and contribute to a more sustainable society.
“It’s about thinking long-term and sustainably,” Michael Herrström concludes.
